Ajith Kumar B.P. obtained his M.Sc and PhD in nuclear physics from University of Calicut and M.Sc in Particle Accelerator Physics, from University of Manitoba, Canada. He held a scientist position at Inter-University Accelerator Centre(former Nuclear Science Centre), New Delhi, from 1986 to 2021. Worked mainly on the design and development particle accelerators and associated experimental facilities. His contributions are mainly in the field of Linear Accelerators, control systems, radio frequency electronics and high speed data acquisition systems required for nuclear physics experiments.
For the past several years he has been leading a project for developing equipment for teaching science and training science teachers. These are done using open source software and hardware tools and the products developed are kept in the open domain. The equipment developed under this project for nuclear physics and other areas of science are now used by several universities. Currently representing India in the IUPAP commission C13, “Physics for Development”.
